Bruton Smith Is A Corporate Whore...

Well, it comes as no surprise that local and state governments are accepting the Lowe's Motor Speedway bribe, to the tune of $80,000,000.

Click here for a Charlotte Observer story questioning the incentives package.

This story serves as a fine example of the rise of corporatism on the local and state level. The taxpayer gets screwed again. I can't say they don't deserve it. They get what they vote for. Unfortunately, everybody else gets it too!

Omnipotent Moral Busybodies...

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be 'cured' against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”
—C. S. Lewis

Kind of reminds you of our nanny-state, doesn't it? If all Christians held the same values as C.S. Lewis, the world would be a far more peaceful place. The nanny-state stands in direct violation of Free Will and the Laws of Nature.

We sure could use another C.S. Lewis right now...

Ron Paul's Support Grows On College Campuses

This could be the most positive major media article regarding libertarianism I have read. Dr. Paul's campaign is attracting more and more young people to the values and principles of libertarianism.

A passionate, yet well reasoned review of Dr. Thomas Szasz. His defense of Szasz serves as a defense of libertarianism as well.

Honestly, one of the best essays, in defense of human freedoms, I have ever read.

The best news for the future of freedom lies in the fact that the writer is a high school student! This only confirms why my hope lies with the young...

The Beautiful People....

I am most grateful for the many friends I have found on my path to freedom. During the past eight years, I have met many wonderful people. That is the biggest blessing I have received during my involvement in the libertarian movement. I continue to meet fellow liberty lovers through my activities in the Ron Paul Revolution.

I have met the most beautiful people working for Liberty. I thank Nature's God for these wonderful folks.

If you cherish freedom, I hope I have the honor of meeting you!

Hornberger Supports Ron Paul...

Jacob Hornberger, President of The Future of Freedom Foundation, has written an excellent article about his support for Ron Paul. I certainly share Jacob's excitement about the Revolution. The libertarian movement is gaining mainstream appeal like never before. I can not imagine a better candidate for freedom lovers to rally around.

Welcome To Govern Thyself...
I have decided to quit being a half assed blogger. In an effort to better organize my thoughts and efforts on behalf of Life, Liberty and Property, I have created a site titled Govern Thyself. I am retiring some of my previous blogs (Restore Our Republic, Cabarrus Critic, etc.) to simplify my on-line activism. My personal website, http://thomasbhill.com is also being “put out to pasture”. I will still maintain my organizational websites, including a new site, currently in the “beta” stage,  which I will announce in the near future.

I will still be posting links to articles and stories relative to the struggles we face defending our natural rights. I promise to include my share of original content. I also promise to update the site several times a week.

Text Book Examples Of Socialist Drivel...
The following “gems” of  socialist drivel are brought to you by McGraw-Hill (yea, who else?!). The text book is “An Introduction To Macroeconomics”- Third Edition, by Paul & Ronald Wonnacott.

Here’s one from Chapter 5, The Role of Government, Part 4 “Helping The Poor”, page 89...

“The market provides the goods and services desired by those with the money to buy, but it provides little for the poor.”

What utter B.S. ! Any honest person can see the market provides much more than a “little” for the poor and less fortunate. Americans donate billions of dollars to charities every year.

Later in the same chapter, under a sub-section called Taxation, Part 4 (Equity)…

“Taxation represents coercion. Taxes are collected by force if necessary. Therefore, it is important that taxes both be fair and give the appearance of being fair.”

The first two sentences are absolutely true. The third is a foolhardy oxymoron…

How can coercion, force and theft, the very heart of taxation, ever be considered fair?
